Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Anime Series Officially Announced for Fall 2026
Toei Animation announced an all-new Dragon Ball Super anime series, focused on Beerus, God of Destruction, bringing the anime television series back to television after eight years. Promotional art was revealed with the announcement that Goku would attain the Super Saiyan God form and do battle with a gigantic Beerus, with Earth and stars in the background, indicating the grand cosmic scale of the battle. The series will premiere on Fuji TV in autumn 2026.
Beerus was introduced in the 2013 Dragon Ball Z - Battle of Gods movie, and quickly became one of the most interesting characters of the saga. The role grew when Dragon Ball Super aired from 2015 to 2018. Divine power, schizo moods and a tenuous partnership with Goku rewrote the rules of the Dragon Ball universe. And rather than some faraway idol, the show treats him as the ultimate villain driving the series deeper into darker and louder territory.
The visual says it all: we’re going back to divine-level power (Super Saiyan God Goku is once again in the spotlight). Instead of the novelty of new transformations getting the focus, God Ki illustrates a story that is about a battle that can only exist between mortals and deities. The cosmic origin story serves as a reminder that the fate of whole worlds — if not, perhaps universes — may be at risk once again with Beerus’s master plan is thrown into doubt.
The revival for longtime fans is both nostalgic and a testament to evolution. Returning Beerus as a main threat allows the series to examine the unresolved gaps from the Dragon Ball Super closure, and also reigniting the feeling of wonder that the series' god level arcs first defined. With a Fuji TV premiere scheduled for Fall 2026, anticipation is already here for what is to be one of the most significant chapters in the history of Dragon Ball.
