Cid Kagenou is back in the spotlight, but from the shadows, naturally. The anime world witnessed a major thrill at AnimeJapan 2026 with the premiere of a brand-new teaser trailer and key visual for the much-awaited movie adaptation of the beloved isekai series, titled The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes. Production insights on the upcoming movie were revealed at a stage event at AnimeJapan 2026 on March 29, 2026, which featured the premiere of the second teaser trailer, along with a brand-new key visual.
The new film will feature Cid Kagenou and Beta in a Japan that has been destroyed by Magical Beasts, and Cid will again meet up with his former classmate Akane. This is a plot that brings together elements of isekai fantasy and Japanese modern-day roots, and it is likely that it will be both emotionally charged and chuunibyou-inspired chaos.
