Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Has Officially Been Canceled

It’s official, and the bad news is that Ubisoft has cancelled the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake. It’s been several years since this game was announced, and while fans had been waiting, this is not really an unexpected ending to this story. The announcement came after years and years of delays and, quite frankly, no updates.

It hasn’t been easy for the remake right from the start. When the initial leak occurred, many fans were not satisfied with the look of the game, particularly in comparison to more contemporary efforts. In response to this, Ubisoft chose to push the title’s releases again and again, to the point of shifting the title’s development to a different studio. Despite this, the title still seemed to fall out of the release slate.

In a statement, Ubisoft kept it brief by simply saying the decision came after reevaluating its priorities and where to best focus its resources. While thanking fans for their passion and patience, the company did not go deep into what went wrong behind the scenes. By now, it seems fairly obvious that this remake just couldn't come together in a way Ubisoft felt confident releasing.
