The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon Review

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon really does bring a lot to the table as it continues the story of the Trails series in the way that it always does with its great storytelling and, quite frankly, some pretty polished gameplay. If you're new to this new iteration of the story, no matter if it's on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, or PlayStation 5, you're in for a wild ride as it takes Zemuria further than it's ever been before. All anyone can seem to do is rave about it as it's one of the best in the series so far because of how it brings all of the big story lines together and some pretty shocking moments.

As with many others, including myself, you've probably spent an untold number of hours with the Trails franchise. But this time, it's different, right? While it's nice to walk through Calvard with Van Arkride and the gang, it's like... it's like the story just takes off with space launches, hidden truths, and getting to hang out with Rean Schwarzer, Kevin Graham, and more! This is a story that does deliver, with the lives of various characters coming together for an emotional ride! Of course, there is a lot of sneaking about, but the tension is incredibly high, and the ending is... it's one of those endings that just leaves you speechless! While it's a little thick with backstory, making it hard for those who are not familiar with it, the way they've built their world and its characters is absolutely cool

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon Review

Regarding the gameplay, it’s excellent this time around with the combination of real-time action and turn-based combat. You get to experience real-time action on the field while still having the ability to issue commands in turn-based mode. There are some pretty cool new additions to the game as well, such as Shard Commands, an Awakening feature, and even a time-stop ability with the Z. O. Hey there. It's C. In terms of battles, there are a lot of decisions that need to be made in order to create your strategy. Whether you're dodging in real-time or setting up some pretty sweet combos, it feels amazing to play, even after long sessions. Console gamers can rejoice because no matter your console of choice, it runs incredibly well. You're a PS5 and Switch 2 owner? Well, you get to experience incredibly smooth graphics and quick loading times. Even as a PS4 or original Switch owner, you're in for a good experience with little to no issues. Its accessibility is something that's very commendable.
