SLEEP AWAKE from Blumhouse Games is Out Now on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5
Blumhouse Games has released their debut title, SLEEP AWAKE. The game is accessible on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, along with Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. This is a psychological horror game by Blumhouse Productions, their first venture into gaming. The game is a narrative-driven survival-horror experience developed in collaboration with Eyes Out and directed by the filmmaker Abhi Kumar Singh, which fits the kind of horror content that Blumhouse is typically associated.
SLEEP AWAKE tells the story of Kat Lesche, a tragic figure whose life spirals into incessant terrifying dreams of waking after an unknown incident that left her in a coma-like state. To unlock the eerie story, gamers have to traverse through the distorted versions of reality, solve the mind-boggling puzzles, and confront frightful representations of Kat’s trauma while also juggling the limited resources and sanity. The title boasts an innovative “Sleep/Wake” gameplay that symbolizes the necessity of the players to be in the awake and nightmare states alternately. The changes that a player makes in one state will have a permanent impact on the other, thereby giving the players a very disorienting and replayable horror experience.
Those critics who were allowed access before the release day complimented the game on its stressful ambiance, stunning graphics, and disturbing sounds made by Mick Gordon (famous for DOOM and DOOM Eternal). Review letters pinpoint that SLEEP AWAKE is successfully realizing the typical horror movie style of suspense going up slowly of Blumhouse and transferring the strong story to the interactive world of gaming. It is a cross-platform title with the PS5 version and the Xbox Series X edition smoothly operating in native 4K, utilizing ray-traced reflections and rapid shifts between dream states.
SLEEP AWAKE is currently available in digital format globally. There will be a limited edition collector's physical version released in the beginning of 2026. If you are a fan of the horror genre and are seeking a fresh and powerful experience during the holidays, I recommend to check out the first game from Blumhouse Games. It provides a terrifying way to forget that the scariest monsters are usually not the ones that follow you, but the ones that stop you from really waking up.
